Welcome to Tabor Public Library!

We're now offering Checkers TV! Checkers TV is a monthly educational entertainment program featuring Checkers the Inventor, his robot sidekick, Snoozer, and a variety of special visitors including medical professionals, community leaders, police and fire men and women, and other special guests in highly-produced 30 minute episodes. Each monthly episode also includes segments featuring storytelling, author interviews, art projects, science experiments, interactive games, contests, comedy, magic, and exciting short films that will have children on the edge of their seats.

Tabor Public Library doors locked but please knock on the front door and we will let you in.

We are packing up getting ready for our big move.  Also take advantage of all of the online resources and ebooks.                  


In phase 2 the library will have doors open limited hours and with recommended guidelines in place.  Library will be open:

               Friday                    1-4pm                   Tabor-Fit     10-11am @ community center

                Saturday             Closed                    (10am -12pm once school starts)


Also check the list of Programs below for where staff will be when library doors are not open and if you need library services at other times Mon – Fri from 9am-5pm you may call and request an appointment or materials can be delivered to you at the door the curbside or homes within the city limits.

 Our front porch is a relaxing spot to sit and read or visit with a friend after checking out a few  books from the library!

Tabor-Fit will is suspended again for now but work-out at home everyone.  you can borrow the dvd's from the library if interested.

 Tabor-Fit will be available, Mon, Wed & Fri 10-11am at the Community Center.  All adults are welcome for our video led workout that focus on strength, balance, stretching for our aging bodies. Come join us for Tabor-Fit where we all get Stronger and Healthier Together.


Weekly Storytime is suspended for now:

Tuesday mornings from 10-11am at the library beginning June 16th we will be open for younger children’s story time.  The library will be closed to public except those attending story time.  We already have a commitment from Andy’s Daycare to attend, therefore do to social distancing guidelines we ask that you call ahead and reserve a spot for your child(ren).  All children must be accompanied by an adult or guardian 16yrs or older.


Join us at the Farmer’s Market

Every Thursday evening June -Sept 10 from 4:30-6pm at the pocket park south of Casey's we will have a table at the Farmer’s Market to promote the library and hand out a fun Grab and Go craft for kids.  You may also pick up your weekly StoryWalk® surprise. Come visit us and see what’s new with the Lakin Library Envisioning Center Program and what all we are doing this summer.


Book Club will resume in June

Book Clubbers meet the 4th Tuesday of each month from 6-8pm at the Jo&Go.  Stopby or call the library to pick up this months copy then come join us for the discussion.


More programs for all ages will begin July 13th Stop by the library and pick up one or all of our fun activities including:  Tween/Teen Photo Scavenger Hunt, Family Scavenger Hunt, Bingo Games for Adults, Family, & Tween/Teen.  Activity sheets for PreK - 4th grade and also for infant/Toddlers.  We will have reading logs for proses for infants -Teens

Some guidelines that are now in place: (full list of guidlines for patrons and staff is in the library)

If you are sick, we ask that you stay home and visit the library when you are well.

No children under the age of 16 are allowed in the library unless accompanied by an adult and supervised by that adult while in the library as all items touched must be sanitized and quarantined for three days. 

 All returns will be sanitized checked in and quarantined for 3 days. 

If you would like to use our computers, we recommend you make an appointment.  Computers use will be limited to Work, Job searching and applying, medical reasons, government forms and registrations, ect… Computers will not be used for leisure and entertainment.  Assistance with computers will be limited to what staff can verbally explain to patrons, as sharing computing surfaces or space around screens cannot be accomplished within the limits imposed by social distancing.

Good news!  As you may have heard, Tumblebooks has allowed all libraries free access to five e-Resources (until August 31, 2020).
